Texas Pro Soccer Festival
We just finished up the 1st Annual Texas Pro Soccer Festival that was held from March3-9th in Cibolo, TX. I was part of the organizing group that put this event together in just about 2 months. We had 4 Major League Soccer Teams (Houston Dynamo, Chivas USA, Toronto FC, and DC United) participate in a week-long training camp and pre-season tournament that was done for charity, SAMYS. It was an overall success, with Houston taking the championship as they went 3-0 during the exhibition tournament.
This was an exciting event that sure took a lot out of all of us. In two months, we obtained sponsors, coordinated all of the teams travel plans, dealt with all of the logistics with the practice venue, stadium, transportation, meals, etc, as well as marketing the event, with flyers/handouts, posters, TV advertisements, and much more.
With only myself and our President, Ed Sakiewicz, working on this full time, and a band of about 3-4 other major contributors, with a lot of other volunteers and helpers, we got this impossible task complete in a fraction of the time it normally would. Be on the lookout for next years event.....
